What's that saying about old democrats having no brains?

Just went to the accountant today and it turns out that rather than being wildly wealthy, I'm dead broke.

There's no punch line here. I'm just depressed, and thought I'd share.

Maybe Andrew Fastow can do your books from jail? On second thought that may create some long term problems.

Shitty news. Sorry to hear it.

Just finished reading your fantastic book. I'm from Australia, I don't really know who Julia Child is, but still I loved it. Keep writing!

Don't sweat it. Just call up Calphalon and launch a line of Julie Powell cookware.

Either that or have google put one of those banner ad thingys on the top of your blog. I did, and look where it got me.

Nowhere.

Friggin Google.

Write on,
Brian

Hey..
Well i ditto the comments left by BethyP, Im in New Zealand and got your book for a birthday present and couldnt put it down - something to do with the name of the book and my own name.. how original. You should definitely get your publisher to send you to our neck of the wood and get a bit more publicity in Australasia..Loved your book!

Sorry Julie--I'm feeling in the same boat. I'm in the process of refinancing my home and it's leaving me feeling very vulnerable. Good luck to you. If it's any consolation, at the very least, you've written one brilliant book.

At least being broke is better than working in a dead end job, right? I wish writing in your pajamas was more lucrative.

Also, I'd love it if you started another project!

Hey Julie,

Just another dead broke memoirist checking in. Sucks, don't it?

Enjoyed your book. Keep your chin up.

Ah, well, that's how it goes. luv, when you are suddenly screamingly successful overnight, innit?
Now, to just figure out what to write next (in PJs or not) that you will know instantly -- just as you knew instantly that writing about cooking and Julia Child and being in a dead-end job was going to be so sexy and modern and politically correct...hmm, then again.
