Final Frontier for the next month or so...

So. Julie Is On YouTube.

Very exciting, no? This is a little experiment me and Food & Wine are conducting and the results are, so far, well... well I'll let you determine.

Three instances of me:

(I'm going to have to learn how to imbed shit one of these days...)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzliAG7MGHk

(This is me trying to act like I'm on TV, I'm totally losing thirty pounds and throwing that sweater away, stat....)

There's another one to come, but YouTube is having trouble digesting it.

Enjoy!

UPDATE:

Video #3, which is actually video #2, which is confusing. TO add to the confusion, this is a very meta Julie YouTube....

I just finished reading your hilarious book, and felt like I just spent a week hanging out with a zany friend eating my face off and laughing my ass off. As a fellow early-thirties, fertility challenged, self-deprecating, prone to emotional fits woman, I wish we had he opportunity to become friends (Canada is low on Republicans, in the way of enticing you up north for a reading).

That was a brave thing to do...
The thing about reading a book before you see a film is that it means you have a preconceived idea of what the characters are like.
It's a bit like that watching a video of an author - especially one who has written a very personal, diary/blog-inspired book.
Seeing the video is a bit of a surprise. I'm not saying its a disappointment but seeing you for real rather in the imagination, takes a bit of adjustment. Imagine if Samuel Pepys were to You-Tube himself now. It could make or break his career as England's bestloved diarist.
You should do more so we can REALLY get used to seeing you on TV. And I think you should incorporate the blogging style in your TV appearances as it is so embedded in what you have created so far.

Hi, I'm a journalism postgrad in Cardiff, UK and I'm writing an article about blogs that get turned into books and I wondered if you could give me an interview. Do I have to go through an agent? It would be very short and probably have to be on the phone or on email/messenger.
I look forward to hearing from you. emilyunia@hotmail.com

My college writing group is having a silent auction of signed books by our favorite authors in the spring. All of the proceeds are going towards rebuilding one of the many libraries on the Mississippi Gulf Coast that was decimated in Katrina. Would you be interested in donating a signed copy of your book for this worthy cause? Please contact me at bsa@muw.edu if you would be able to help us. Thanks! :)

Reading your book is bringing back fond memories.
My husband cooked as he learned and I ate! I too hate aspic as much as you and your husband. Just reading about your adventures in making aspic made me gag at the memories. The smell of hoof is the perfect description!

My husband is a native New Yorker who is a classically trained French chef (now retired, on a second career as a math teacher in NYC public High school). A true glutton for punishment, after working in French restaurant kitchens for a decade, now being in a classroom of 35 inner city kids is a piece of cake.

When he was learning his craft in the early 1980's, he practiced all his cooking on me, cooking from Larousse Gastronomique, and I ate what he cooked on a regular basis. As a professional, he seemed to accomplish the feat of making editable (sometimes disgusting) food on a daily basis since haughty coke addicted French restaurant owners made him feel his skills were in demand, and paid him handsomely to work in the spiffiest Manhattan French restaurants on the Upper East Side and in Tribecca.

Your book is great, and I'm glad you still blog.
Have you considered writing about an eating tour of France? A must for any person like yourself who loves butter and cream, and the most insanely well-prepared food. We have done brief eating our way through France trips and it is the best vacation a girl can ever have who loves cream and butter, and beautiful shoes to shop for in between eating.

Almost done with the book, but you can already count me as a fan.

Nice work. My favorite was the rack-of-lamb-camera-fuck-up. Very funny and your personality came through great on that one.

I'm reading your book right now. It was given to me by my mother who recommended it to me because I blog. Anyway, I thought I'd do a little search and see if you were out there... I located your old blog and thought, shit, she hasn't posted since 2004, then I found this one. I'm glad you are still posting. I watched two videos, but don't think I'll go there again until I'm finished reading. Your voice kind of messed up my experience of your book voice. Sort of like watching a movie before you read the book. I can't get the actor to stop being the character no matter how hard I try. So... no more video for me yet.

You just got screen time on late night TV. Craig Ferguson showed a clip of you on the food channel, totally justifying my watching his show for the first time ever.

My husband is a native New Yorker who is a classically trained French chef. I wonder if he attended French culinary schools. It is very interesting to me, because I'm a great fan of French cuisine.

Ooddles has been developing dog food since 2016; it all started when a family member of a breeder became aware of the low-quality ingredients used in many dog foods commonly available. After extensive research, they developed two formulas with leading UK manufacturers. They launched two dry food products, the original two lines called Game On and The Catch which became very popular, very quickly, and still very popular today, these formulas were aimed at crossbreeds, although suitable for all breeds. Always selling out of the two lines, it became apparent the food was well received.
