Sleepless In Seattle - Tired, but True

So I was in bed at the crack of midnight last night... and up at 6. Irrevocably. Even though I have nothing to do today. It's ridiculous. I'm not going to be able to make it through the next week on six hours a night (and on some nights, I won't even have the option of six hours, my own bodily tempos notwithstanding) I have to sleep today. I'm going to throw my entire arsenal at it, pharmaceutical, alcoholic and literary, but I fear it just might not be enough. Maybe I need someone to come by and sap me or something. Get a little Raymond Chandler/Big Lebowski dream sequence going on.

I bought your book. And then read it in a day, instead of studying for the bar, which is in four days. That was bad, but you inspired me to put butter in my blueberry pancakes, which was good. I loved it, and am forcing all of my friends to read it, after the exam. Thank you.

I find exercise helps me fall asleep more easily and sleep through longer. Good luck with that.

You say you gave Seattle two chances and don't like her. Can you give us hint?

Ambien, a glass or two of old vine Zinfandel and an Organic Chemistry textbook usually do the trick for me.

Whenever I can't sleep, I find the voice of Morgan Freeman in Shawshank Redemption puts me out shortly after the start of the movie.

However, if the hotel does not have this movie on pay-per-view, I've also discovered the Deadliest Catch commentator's voice works just as well.

Whenever I want to be lulled to blissful sleep I put on Eckhart Tolle's The Power of Now book on tape - no kidding, his soothing voice makes it impossible not to drift off (resorted to reading).

It's torture waiting till the movie comes out...

Your book has been on my list of "must read" foodie books for some time. Well, my mother added it to her most recent Chapter's online order and presented it to me this week. I have abandoned all other books (I usually have 2 or 3 on the go) and am almost finished yours. I actually had to put it away while riding home on the bus because I was laughing and smiling to myself like a weirdo (and am convinced the other disgruntled commuters thought I was insane). Bravo! Am looking very forward to the movie!!

Random comment coming (as I have never been to Seattle, I don't have too much to say about the post)... ANYWAY... I have been meaning to comment to you that the beginning of your book, in the subway, brought back so many although non-too-pleasant memories of my life in NYC. Seriously, Fulton Street station in the summer? One level up from hell. As well, I have been caught (pre-911) on the train when POTUS was touring the city, and they would shut down the F---ing trains!!! With people on them!! LIKE ME! I digress... getting a little too excited over here about the damn subway - HOWEVER I do miss my fresh supply of almost expired batteries for a $1. Now, I have to pay full price. Sucks.

When your book first appeared on our local library shelf I snapped it up (I didn't even ready the summary, just thought the cover was cute!) Actually it was on CD, but I took you with me on a long trip and loved every word. I have been telling everyone about you and your book, but apparently you were already known. I just saw a sneak preview of your movie in my town and wow. It was amazingly done. Not quite as good as listening to you read your book, but it was really nice to see it come to life on the big screen. Just found your blog...now I am an avid follower. Thanks!
